Portugal

Portugal is a parliamentary democracy, governed by an elected president and government. The Portuguese Republic is a democratic constitutional state in Europe politically very stable for decades. Portugal also has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe.

Portugal lies with Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. West and south of Portugal lies the Atlantic Ocean. Under Portuguese territory also includes the Azores archipelago and the sunny island of Madeira, which lies off the coast of Morocco.

Portugal is very mountainous, with the Serra da Estrela is the highest mountain. Also listed in Portugal many caves and rivers. The largest cave system is Grutas de Mira de Aire, about 85 kilometer northeast of Lisbon.

Fragrant eucalyptus, fig trees, olive trees, orange groves, ferns, cork trees and pines, you come to them all along the west coast of Portugal. The Algarve climate is subtropical, so here many cacti and flowering plants such as oleanders, camellias and orchids find. In the north of Portugal to grow include oak, chestnut, laurel trees and maples.

Portugal is an ideal for bird watching destination. You get there by water birds, such as the flamenco, the heron and the duck, but also large raptors, such as the eagle and the buzzard. The rare blue magpie lives here.
